Here we discuss how to become an infopreneur, which comes down to following a successful business model. This allows you to transform your life by transforming your knowledge into profit. However, before we get into that it is important to understand what an infopreneur is.
The word infopreneur comes from the words information and entrepreneur. I recently came across this word and it is new to me but it is a term that has been around for more than 20 years.
Infopreneur is some one whom is in the business of creating and selling information products. An information product is information or knowledge that is packaged in a way so that it can be sold and delivered over and over again.
Many successful online entrepreneurs are providing ‘how to’ products that teach others how to do something new, improve upon and be more efficient. Such online internet marketers are Infopreneurs. Some examples of this can be:
- How to make money online.
- How to have a better sex life.
- How to build a website.
- How to play a musical instrument.
- How to be successful on Youtube.
- How to stay fit and healthy.
- How to be a dog trainer.
I have read that any topic that you can place a ‘how to’ title in front of is a positive candidate for an information product. While this is true, really any thing that provides a solution to a problem or teaching to achieve excellence in a task or project, is an infopreneurial product.
Your Fountain of Knowledge and Autopilot Income Streams
There are several ways you can capture information, so that your library of knowledge can be sold over and over again on autopilot. In the old days we really had just physical products and they were mainly text based, expressed in the way of books, newspapers, magazines and reports.
Today with the power of the internet, as an infopreneur, you have a great deal more options. In addition to physical products, there is also digital items and these can come in the form of audio and video. With the potential of reaching over 3 billion people whom are using the internet, you have enormous power selling your products and services in digital form.
No longer do you need to have your books printed with a publisher, or your audio and videos produced on disc and then shipped out, all of which would require initial investment. A customer can order online and get access to a digital version immediately. So this is a win-win for both you and the customer.

Even with physical products with the emerging technologies of 3D printing, a client could potentially download the schematics of the products in digital form and then go to a near by resource providing 3D printing and generate the physical product.
This is the coming next big thing instead of shipping physical products such as clothing. In recent times 3D printing has even produced a cheese burger that was eatable.
As an online infopreneur you are selling your digital information on the internet, with the power of automation in your business. This means that everything runs on autopilot, creating multiple passive income streams.
You are valuable and in demand…
The knowledge that you possess is valuable and there are people out there looking for what you have to offer. The biggest fallacy you can make is that what you know is common knowledge and that ‘everyone knows that’, erroneously thinking that your knowledge has no value to anybody.
Your information is valuable and you are priceless! I have experienced this myself with creating ‘how to’ Youtube videos that have gone viral.
At the time I was just experimenting and getting used to making videos. Some of them were shared and got popular and end up ranking at the top of the search engines.
The kind of feedback comments I received were interesting, such as how they have come across the same information in other people’s videos but when they came across my tutorial on the subject at hand then it made perfect sense to them.
The reason I mention this is because there are people out there whom are in demand for your knowledge and services! Just because someone has a knowledge on the subject the same of you, does not mean that it will resonate with everyone. You will find that people are looking exactly what you have to offer and it will make perfect sense to them.
You have so much value to offer the world.
So by not acknowledging your greatness you are doing the world a great disservice.
Celebrate your power!
Your niche can never get saturated because there will always be someone looking and appreciating your uniqueness and content. You need to understand that people are willing to pay good money for your knowledge. People are eager to learn form someone whom has been there, done it and tried that. In the niche you are in, you can help people avoid mistakes while helping them accomplish something with higher greatness.
You are the Solution
As an example of how to become an infopreneur, lets say you have had a speech problem all your life. Due to the discriminators in society, perhaps you have gone from one job to another. Or unable to get along in society, plus all the challenges in communication that most people take for granted.
With all the knowledge and experiences you have amassed, you can become a leader in showing others how to over come this issues. Perhaps you could capture your wisdom and advice in a series of videos or eBooks.
With other people having the same problems and trying to figure out a set of solutions, you already have what they are looking for. If you take your hard earned experiences and translate it into ‘how to’ content, people will be learning what you have already figured out!
Infopreneur vs. Researcher
It can be easy to think that there is no difference between a researcher and infopreneur. However, nothing could be further from the truth!

There is a reason why infopreneurs make a far greater amount of money than a researcher or non-fiction author. Infopreneurs operate with an underlining business model that is very different and more powerful due to some very effective strategies.
Traditional researchers and authors do not have a clue who is buying their material. When selling through a bookstore or an online retailer, you may know how many items where sold. However, you have no knowledge of whom the customer is since the retailer does not share customer information with the seller.
Also what about prospects or potential customers? These are the people whom are interested in what you are providing, but not ready to buy. Generally retailers will not have this information so the researcher is not going to get it.
However, with the infopreneual business model I provide and teach on my website, you establish a direct connection with your clients and prospects as you have their contact information. This intimate business connection is the cornerstone of any infopreneurial approach and is essential to the success of selling to your customers again and again.
Typically the shop owner or an author thinks in terms of one-time sales. The product is created and you hope people will buy it. Bit of a hit or miss don’t you think?
As an infopreneur, you already have an established relationship with your clients and can actively promote and sell to them continually over time.
Infopreneurial Stair Stepping
This is the approach of giving your customers and prospects the opportunity to step their way through increasing levels of engagement and investment over a period of time. For those whom are interested but not ready to buy, the infopreneur may offer a free giveaway, in the form of email content (newsletter), provide some training videos, or download an eBook. Stimulating the customer engagement, getting them comfortable with product and service offerings.

Eventually the infopreneur might offer a $17 basic “how to” product. Following on, the client may be able to obtain more expensive services that provide more advance training or information. Or perhaps a monthly subscription fee providing ongoing value with the latest and greatest.
To summarize, an infopreneur typically has a range of business potentials at different price points. People like to have incremental steps of information over time.
The infopreneural concept is far more profitable and effective when compared to a traditional business models. With the online world this gives the infopreneur unlimited power and flexibilty with automation at his/her finger tips.
